Man in suit with jukebox and event details.

Attention: Activity Directors

This musical showcase is perfect for the Independent Living, Assisted Living, Retirement Communities, Residential Group Homes and Senior Centers. It features the music of the 40's, 50's, 60's and some 70's. It will delight your residents and take them on an unforgettable trip down memory lane. They will dance, clap, reminisce, tap their feet and their faces will light up with non-stop smiles - because this is the music they first fell in love with.

Celebrating the greatest generation of all time

Paying Tribute to Senior Citizens

I have a special affection for our senior community. My mom (who lives in Carson City) is 93 years old and my dad (who passed in 2025) was a World War II veteran. My mom and dad shared a special kind of love. My dad passed just hours before their 73rd wedding anniversary. So inspiring. Our senior citizens here in Northern Nevada have similar stories and memories that represent the greatest generation of all time. There is nothing more pleasing than seeing their faces light up when the music is played and stories are shared from their younger years. To bring this Jukebox Memories showcase to your residents would be as pleasing for me as it will be for them. I promise, there will be many compliments from your residents.

Showcase Overview

The Jukebox Memories showcase is unlike anything ever offered in this area and, quite frankly, would be very difficult for just any DJ to present. Simply put, it's Jukebox music with the Memories of old fashion radio. In both versions of the showcase, guests are treated to a recognizable walk down memory lane featuring the greatest hits of the 40's through the 60's. Along the way, I will incorporate entertaining stories about the songs that helped shape a generation. So why was the name Jukebox Memories chosen for this showcase? Well, back in their day, they didn't dance to a DJ. They danced to a jukebox. When they weren't dancing, they were listening to their favorite radio DJ. This is the best of both worlds. Every song I play will be a recognizable favorite from the days when they would put a coin in the jukebox and the song introductions will share the inspiration of what made them the biggest hits of their generation. My stories and music will help them relive those Jukebox Memories.

Showcase #1: Residential Group Homes

These more intimate settings are among my favorite.  There are usually less than a dozen residents who assemble in the living room or covered garden area for a one hour show. After a brief small set-up, I begin playing recognizable favorites from the 40's - 60's. When the show officially begins - so too will their trip down memory lane. In this showcase, each song comes with a story. I recount many recognizable current events from their era that will bring back memories. I keep things mostly chronological moving from the 40's to the 50's to the 60's. The stories behind the songs will make them light up. There will be lots of smiles, toe-tapping, hand-clapping and often dancing-in-place as some will stand with their walkers or get assistance from group home employees. This very cost-affordable showcase is perfect to have on a monthly basis. Call for pricing.

Showcase #2: Independent & Assisted Living Communities

For larger Retirement Communities and Senior Centers - there is commonly more of a dancing component. As your residents gather in the common area, recognizable music from the 40's - 60's will welcome them. It will immediately take them back in time. When the show officially begins, so too will their trip down memory lane. After a brief introduction, I will share short stories about the songs, the artists and the moments that represented the soundtrack of their life. These short story introductions will remind them of the radio DJ's from their younger years. As more and more people dance throughout the hour, the stories will become fewer and the music will continue to create the memories. It's important to strike a balance so the showcase is as entertaining for those who will dance and as it is for those who will just sit and enjoy. Song requests are always welcomed. Important information to know

Please reach us at info@RenoDJ.com if you have any additional questions.

My career started off as a popular radio DJ on oldies station KGVM. It was here where I honed my skills for storytelling and classic artist trivia. In 1990, I took my show on the road and started The Reno Tahoe DJ Company. My company quickly grew to become the gold standard here in Northern Nevada. I became well known for performing; car shows, fundraisers, retirement parties, weddings and all types of special events. Throughout that time, I specialized in oldies music of the 20th century and performed more than 3000 showcases. For nearly 20 of those years, I served as the personal DJ for entertainment legend Dick Clark - the most famous DJ of all time. Dick Clark was the long-time host of American Bandstand from 1956 - 1989 and popularly known for Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve - the broadcast that eventually replaced Guy Lombardo's New Year's Eve broadcast. His stamp on the entertainment world was enormous and I was proud to call him my friend and mentor. I have performed at nearly every major area special event in Reno, including; Hot August Nights, Street Vibrations, The Great Reno Balloon Races and the Nugget Rib Cookoff. Additionally, I spent 17 years as the in-house DJ at the Trader Dick's Lounge at John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks from 1996 - 2013. For 36 years, creating musical memories has been my life's dedication. There is no greater honor than to enrich others with the gift of music.

I was born in 1959 and will turn 67 years old in October. My parents raised me on Big Band & Swing music. Growing up, I was exposed to music from; Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Glenn Miller, The Andrew Sisters and many of the other Big Band groups and crooners. Throughout the 60's and 70's, I absorbed rock and roll music like a sponge. I knew every artist, every group and knew every word to every song on the radio. It was only natural that I would eventually become a popular radio DJ.

I think it's great when the staff gets involved. For Residential Group Homes - they might just be on hand to help them stand with their walker or help them with simple movement. For larger Independent or Assisted Living Communities & Senior Centers, you will sometimes find staff that will dance with the residents. I even had one group teach The Cupid Shuffle to their residents in the days preceding my arrival. The result was amazing (see video below)! I always encourage staff to participate and I love recognizing them on the microphone. This helps highlight the employees who work so tirelessly on their behalf. Residents love dancing with the people who care for them.

I am very well versed in many types of theme events. Besides Swing & Oldies music, I can also custom-tailor a musical showcase that is either partly or entirely in the following themes; Rat Pack, Summer of Love (hippie), British Invasion, Woodstock, 70's, Disco, Country, Beach Party / Tropical Island, County Fair, Summer BBQ and 80's.

The entire purpose of this showcase is to honor your residents and to give them a musical memory they will never forget. It's all about the iconic jukebox hits, the artists and their music that helped shape our culture and created fun memories that made us all fall in love on the dance floor. I am uniquely qualified to present this showcase for their enjoyment. I have been doing this for many, many years and would welcome the opportunity to explore this exciting one-of-a-kind showcase. I promise, you will not be disappointed!

It is important to note that I will work with your Activity Director to custom-design a showcase that is within your budget and perfect for your residents. No two showcases are the same. Some want daytime - others want an evening performance. Some want weekdays - others want weekends. Also important is the length of the showcase. Some only need an hour and others need as much as 2 1/2 hours. Bottom line . . . call me and let's work out something perfectly suited for your residents. I will do my best to always work within your budget.
