For more than three decades, Larry Williams has been the area's most in-demand DJ. His career started in 1990 as a popular radio DJ. Later that year, he started The Reno Tahoe DJ Company. In 1994, he caught the attention of entertainment legend Dick Clark - the beloved host of American Bandstand. This began a lifelong friendship. For nearly 20 years, Williams served as Dick Clark's personal DJ. In 1996, Williams designed and built the Jukebox Memories mobile unit to the delight of special event organizers. In 1997, Williams was hired to be the in-house DJ for John Ascuaga's Nugget. From 1997 - 2013, Williams performed more than 2000 shows in the Trader Dick's lounge. In 2000, Williams formed the Nevada Disc Jockey Association in an effort to unite area DJ's. In 2006, he was honored nationally by the American Disc Jockey Association (ADJA) with their coveted Michael Butler Humanitarian Award.
By 2007, Williams wrote the first of three books (2007, 2011, 2014) geared specifically towards customer service and personal development. He then toured the nation extensively as a popular keynote speaker and member of the National Speaker's Association (NSA). By late 2007, Williams attained a career milestone - becoming the first and only certified Wedding Entertainment Director® in the state of Nevada. He later would serve on the Board of Director's for WEDGuild. In 2015, he was invited to Denver Colorado to be the featured speaker for the TEDx FrontRange event. In 2016, Williams began utilizing his talent as a Wedding Officiant - a service offering that grows more and more in popularity each year. In 2019, Williams was recruited to serve as the President of the Northern Nevada Bridal Association - the largest wedding organization in the state of Nevada.
On a personal note, Williams is a proud father of two amazing adult kids. His eldest daughter Jenny is a successful local artist and also works in the concert stage and lighting field. His youngest, Joey, is in his third year of college and studying to be a lawyer. Outside of his DJ career, Williams is also an accomplished musician. He is a guitarist and songwriter. In 2019, The Alcatraz East Crime Museum in Pigeon Forge Tennessee, recognized the song Williams wrote back in 1991 for kidnap victim Jaycee Lee Dugard whose miraculous recovery in 2009 made worldwide headlines. The song "Jaycee Lee" became the official song for the search effort back in 1991 and has been featured on many national programs including; America's Most Wanted and E! Entertainment Television, just to name a few. Today, Williams continues to write and record original music.
Throughout his career, Larry Williams has received numerous awards and accolades including a special commendation from Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons. He has also donated his talents to many charitable causes, including; The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Special Olympics, Catholic Charities, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Marvin Picollo School for special needs in Reno. He has appeared at nearly every special event in Reno / Sparks including; The Nugget Rib Cookoff, Hot August Nights and the Great Reno Balloon Races, among others. Besides performing for countless dignitaries, celebrities and thousands of guests - he is a frequent contributor for local news programs when expert wedding advice is needed.
